Alto and Bass resources

I’ve been playing a lot of piccolo this month, and a friend asked me last weekend if I played on a regular basis.  I did play a lot of piccolo in college, but now I usually only play when a gig requires it.  I’ve spent the years between then and now falling in love with the alto and bass flute.  I did purchase a DiZhao alto flute two years ago, and I was really pleased to find Dr. Chris Potter’s list of resources for others who wish to purchase a low flute as well.  This list is Dr. Potter’s recommendations for 2012-2013 based on models that were available at the convention, and I think it’s fantastic how she’s been updating it every year.

And I also wanted to share the links to the repertoire lists released by the Low Flutes Committee at the NFA, also spearheaded by Dr. Potter.  There is a list for alto repertoire and bass repertoire, currently from 2011.  The lists are graded and include the instrumentation and the publisher.  Happy shopping!
